Autumn Newsletter

Dear Yogis

I do hope you have all had a chance to rest and relax over the summer and enjoyed the little sunshine we have been gifted. I have been grateful for the break – its the first proper time off from teaching that I have had since the pandemic began!

Classes will return on September 6th and although we are no longer in lockdown I will continue to operate at reduced class sizes to keep us as safe as possible. This will become increasingly important to me as I have been diagnosed with axial and peripheral spondyloarthritis and my treatment is immune suppressing drug therapy. So please do make sure that you book your space as soon as you are able to so that you don’t miss out.

All the classes are listed below and you can book, complete your health questionnaire and pay all from the same Bookwhen platform.

Autumn Yoga Timetable

There are a couple of changes to the timetable from September. Following feedback from regulars, I have changed Sunday morning yoga sessions to 09.30am.

I am also going to make the first Tuesday evening session of the month online only as we have to have a short and early class due to other bookings in the hall.

The full timetable and links to Bookwhen can be found here and below.

Thai Yoga Massage Therapy

During 2021/21 I trained and qualified as a Thai Yoga Massage Therapist and I am now offering regular treatments in this practice.

Thai Yoga Therapy is a therapeutic form of massage and bodywork that has its roots in Buddhist medicine. It works on the different layers of the body from the skin, tissues, Sen, bones and organs.

Treatments are between 60 minutes and up to 2hrs long. The recipient is fully clothed and will be treated on a floor based Thai Yoga Futon. During therapy you will receive deep tissue massage, myofascial release and stretches. If appropriate, I may use ointments and heated treatments

Post Graduate Yoga Therapy

In June 2021 I started a 2 year post graduate diploma in Yoga Therapy. Yoga therapy is the professional application of the principles and practices of yoga to promote health and well-being within a therapeutic relationship that includes personalised assessment, goal setting, lifestyle management, and yoga practices for individuals or small groups.

The course is over 12 weekends with extensive reflective practice and case studies. This does mean that there will be some cancelled classes on Sunday’s and I will also be looking for case study candidates in due course.

Zoom Classes

I have decided to continue with a limited Zoom offering alongside existing in-person classes to give you a little flexibility. I have, however, increased the fee slightly to cover the costs of kit and increased mobile phone data charges as unfortunately the locations I use do not have WiFi.
